Gutenberg is more punk than us all

Isn't it funny how one search leads us to another and yet another? Recently, I was looking into heat presses to make some of our newer designs possible and I ran across an article on how to make your own letter press. I have always been a fan of manual printing techniques, you know the classes you may take in high school or at a community college for wood block printing or intaglio. Ohh.. wood block prints are extremely beautiful when you can get the woodgrain to show through! Well anyways, we were working on business cards lately and we seem to be making it more difficult than it really needs to be. On top of that its time consuming and messy on our part.

So when I saw that instructables post, I thought to myself, ohh gosh, wouldn't it be dandy to have a letterpress? The idea is extremely simple and I LOVE BUILDING THINGS! For the next few weeks I am going to be building a letter press. I think it would be great to make one that would be able to print 11x17, but I think I'm going to make a smaller version first. Maybe one that could do 8.5x11 or something like that. I will be posting images and video on the whole process, so stay tuned for some cool media and possibly some new products from your friends at MODATI.

THINK. LOVE. CREATE.
